T&T: Conversion to Fully Synthetic Oil for 1979 Engine and Gen Set

My 1979 DeFever Down East 40 has a Perkins 6.354 6 cylinder naturally
aspirated main engine with about 6000 hours, and a 7.5 KW Onan MDJE with
about 4000 hours. Both the PO and I have used Shell Rotella in both engines
on a change schedule of (about) every 100 hours. I would like to convert to
fully synthetic oil for a variety of reasons, key being the lack of
breakdown of lubricating properties with heat and time, and the possibility
of extending the change cycle, but with an interim filter change. I would
