John,

I believe the load is 10 psi applied to the area of the paravane. I
asked a naval engineer several years back, and that is the number he
uses for design.

In the event that I snag a fish on a large object, I want it to break away before damage occurs to the paravane boom, superstructure, etc. My problem is that I have been unable to find information as too much force is generated by the fish. Does anyone know of a strain gauge that I could insert in line with the fish to measure the force being generated?

Well mystery masked man was smart,
He got himself a Tonto,
'Cause Tonto did the dirty work for free.
But Tonto he was smarter;
One day he said, "Kemosabe:
Kiss my ass, I bought a boat, I'm going out to sea."
