Pascal,
I could not agree with you more about new boats also. I pruchased a new boat
last year--and spent 3 months getting it "right". (sure the builder paid for
the parts and materials, but frankly I could do a better job than the
"dealer's" workers).
This year I pruchased another boat (we keep one in Calif. where my children
live--a fringe benefit for them). It had only been used for 3 seasons and had
some very serious defects. Part was builder error, part was that the previous
owner abused the boat, and didn't fix the minor problems when they appeared.
We pruchased the boat for half the asking price after a bad survey was
published on the internet. The factory stood behind the boat--and paid for
the materials to do the repair and the labor cost of the gal who works for me
to do the glass work.
Off the record, I have had several Nordhavn owners tell me that the majority
of the new Nordhavn's require a in-ordinate amount of "fix up" to make them
"right".
Plug and play boating!
Take care,
Bob Austin
