Phil,

The Celestial is an aft cabin trawler with a shaded sundeck, which my
wife dearly loves. When the outside temperature is low enough to just
use natural ventilation (we are in Florida, so that is often not the
case), the temperatures in the boat are usually OK. The Celestial
has an overhead opening hatch on the aft starboard corner of the aft
cabin. It also has 6 opening portlights in the aft stateroom, plus
one in the head. I usually open the forward hatch and install the
screen, open some portlights in the aft cabin, and let air flow
through the boat. We also have screens for the two side doors, but
the doors are closed at night. At times; however, after running the
engines all day, in the evening and at night at night, when there is
little wind, there is not enough ventilation as the engine heat
radiates into the interior of the boat and we have to run the AC
until the engines cool down. The generator has a sound shield which
cools down some, even when the generator is running. Outdoor
temperatures permitting, if we anchor before sundown, by the time we
retire for the night, the engines have cooled down and the boat is
very pleasant.

Take care and be safe.
