My wife often reminds me about teaching a cat to dance-You waste your time and annoy the cat. Well I wasted my time and I have annoyed alot of cats, some cats got it-some cats kindly called me names.

We all go through an education with boats-but alot of it is old wives tales which when repeated often enough becomes folklore. Often the chiefs of the tribe disagree, because they are the chiefs. I'm the guy on the dock with the tools and a helping hand, the spare part you can't get, the warning just before you runaground.

I got into this because of the top 5 post. The pursuit of "quality" is fleeting. What we think is good now changes as we get experience. I thought it silly.

I worked my way though college (seamanship, environment and politics) building and restoring exotic cars, motorcycles, and boats. If II do my own personel stuff-I measure succes in building it wearing it out and doing it again, and a second and third time. Each time its better. Its the use of the tool, not the pocession of the device that I respect.

I love the water, and use it. I relate more with the vagabon boater with the blue polytarp sail and some old roadmaps for charts than I do with goldplater at the dock. Its not the talking about it-my boats the best because I spent more money on it thing, its the using of it.

I'll stay on the list for another day to take whatever punishment I deserve for being stupid enough in attempting those cat dancing lessons-then unsubscribe. You won't notice my wake as I pass you-I am gentle on the water and stupid on land. My aplogies. Kevin
