T&T: Reading Suggestions

 From time to time people post suggestions here for recommended 
books.  You might like some of the books by Jan De Hartog.  He was 
the captain of a Dutch ocean going tug and accompanied convoys during 
WW II on the runs from North America to Murmansk.  He wrote a novel 
based on his experiences called "The Captain" which I think is his 
best.  He wrote other novels of the sea.  Later in life he moved to 
the US and became a Quaker and began writing novels set around Quaker 
characters.
