T&T: Winterizing a boat

We have a Lectrasan unit that we are very happy with. However, it had to be
installed in a location that makes access to its top impossible for removing
the plug and pumping it dry for winterizing unless I do some heavy
dismantling. Not the best arrangement, I absolutely agree, but it's all we can
do for now. Last season, I pumped the pink stuff through it. (I disconnected
the power before doing this.) We had no problems in the spring. I know that
doesn't really prove much, as damage could be cumulative. I asked around the
marina and at the yard and the few who had any opinion or experience said this
is what they do. The pink stuff is pretty benign, used in all kinds of
plumbing and in raw water circuits -- different metals, seals, and compounds.
Perhaps the electrodes are more vulnerable, but if so, why? Has anyone else
had bad experience doing this?
Thanks.
