Hi All,
Returned from Trawler Fest in Solomons, MD, yesterday evening. It was a
great time made so by the numerous contacts we made with trawler types from
this list whom we got to finally meet in person. We came away with several
new friends with whom we plan to stay in touch and hopefully spend some more
quality time. Folks with boats there were so generous in inviting us on
board and showing us around, including climbing down into more than one
engine room, and were frank and candid about the boat and it's good and,
maybe, not so good points. Usually this led to dinner at one of Solomons'
waterfront restaurants - crab cakes as big as soft balls, no kidding - and
great conversation sometimes enhanced by responsible amounts of alcohol. It
was hard to see them motor off on Sunday.
I'll post the pix on our boat's site at http://BestRevenge.us if you're
interested.
Robin and I are so thankful to those who showed us such hospitality and who
took a real interest in our "newbie" questions. There's a lot of class and
grace out there in the trawler community. We came away with a good idea of
the boat for us when we are ready to move up - the Krogen 42 - and ideas for
our present boat.
Best,
Rob & Robin Dorsey
