T&T: Advise on Packing

Jim,

I too installed the green 'clay' type packing with the same results as you. 
Over time and having tightening up the stuffing box I pushed out all the 
'clay' and ended up with just the two rings of traditional packing.

Was disappointed as a slipmate had great results, and it seemed like the 
ideal answer.  Never did resolve why it did not work for me.  I installed 
GFO packing instead.
