i agree about the gore packing, much dryer and doesn't require that special
grease which make the job real messy.
the key is to get the righ size material (open the box and measure the
shaft, the inner dimension of the box and do the math) AND to remove all the
old material.
while a crewdriver can be used, teh special tool helps a lot ! it's like a
flexible corckcrew... screw it in the old stuff and pull. repeat till you
have everythign out.
install the 3 or 4 rings of new material, make you cut them to the right
length and stagger the cuts...
