Marins statement in the above title on his Grand Banks may not apply as he
probably has a diode splitter in the charging system.
Both my early and now late GB have had splitters. The splitter is permanently
wired between batteries and alternator.
Damage may occur if the battery master isolators are switched off.
Only may late GB has these master isolators not to be confused with the
battery selector switch.
I have rewired my GB to have a dedicated start/ bow thruster battery and a
separate house bank of large capacity.
The original Perko selector switch is available to use for its intended
function with a flip over bar to prevent use other than off and house
battery.
Flipping the bar allows one to parallel batteries or run house supplies from
the start battery which is number 2, if required in an emergency.
I think I now have the best of both worlds.
