T&T: 60-cycle hum in VHF audio

I had the exact problem you are talking about - only it occured in my outboard boat whenever the engine was on (alternator problem)?  I installed a radio frequency isolator in-line and it completely eliminated the problem.  If you'd like, I can get the model number/make of it, it's a box about the size of a deck of cards. When I had that issue, I had a bad cell in the battery that feeds the radio.
