T&T: 60-cycle hum in VHF audio

i`d be checking all my cable fittings, turning off stuf to see what was 
making the noise, usually it`s the ac/dc frig...writting to the manufacturer 
abt the problem...i would suspect a ground connection...hook up another 
radio, diff company, play the 'elimination game'...does this happen when 
using shore power, or when underway? lotsa variables! got a good digital 
volt/ohm meter? know somewhat how to use it, or have a friend that does? 
could be bad ground connections on the vhf rigs...have fun...c
