 All,

Would this method of internal mounting a transducer work the same on a
wooden hull. Roughly an inch and a half mahogany planking.

Alec
I have been successful in mounting depthfinder tranducers (Humminbird)
inside
of a fiberglass hull by simply imbedding them in a big blob of silicone
rubber. I did this first as a trial but the results were so successful
that
they
have been in place for four years. The depth range of the transducers
inside a
fiberglass hull is reduced by about 20 to 30% but the Humminbirds read
reliably
down to 200 ft. I don't know how successful this mounting would be on
other
tyoes of hulls but it takes only a few minutes to try and the transducer
can
be
easilly pulled free if it doesn't work.
