If you're looking for a sun shield that you can see through (limited
visibility) in nice weather, try Textilene window covers.  They will filter
out up to 90% of the sunlight and virtually eliminate the greenhouse effect
that the large windows on many trawlers create. They do NOT, however, offer
much privacy at night since anyone outside will be able to see into the
lighted interior of your boat.
