T&T: PTO Alternator/Generator

  I'm considering adding a power takeoff alternator or generator on my Detroit 8V71 main engine. I've looked at bus alternators from Leece Neville and generators from several different companies and am not sure which way to go, although I'm leaning towards a large DC alternator. I'd like to get above 300 amps of available output.
   
  Has anyone had any experience in this area?
