T&T: Passport Service

I asume you are an American and need the passport in order to return to the US
from the Bahamas?

I read a while back that the passport offices are so far behind in issueing
passports that they will give you a document that states you have applied for
a passport. This 'I'm on the waiting list' document will get you back into the
US.

I don't remember where or when I read the info.
