>>Is there a different rating for someone living aboard at a specific
marina
vs. someone cruising about without a permanent mooring?<<
Not necessarily but, obviously, someone living aboard in the Chesapeake Bay
region is going to pay less than someone cruising down the coast and down
island.
>>Seems that the difference between 'livaboard' & 'full time cruiser' is
hair
splitting.<<
Not at all! The risks are quite different.
>>How would I know all the expectations like this of the insurance
company.
Will they be supplying a check list of categories? For all I know, they
expect livaboard to be spelled live-aboard and if I spell it wrong, my claim
will be rejected. What I read in this is that your insurance companies will
try anything they can to reject ALL claims and I will need a lawyer to fight
any claim, no matter how legitimate.<<
That looks an awful lot like insurance industry bashing. FWIW, Most
insurance companies recognize that their very best form of advertising is in
the way they handle claims. In the case of yacht policies, where the policy
form is All-Risk, Agreed Value, Replacement cost it is exceedingly rare for
a claim to be denied. HOWEVER, they do expect to have accurate information
provided to them on their applications.
