T&T: Genset sizing (was genset replacement)

I have a NorthernLights 12 kw with ~4400 hrs - going strong.

However, I think the PO installed TOO Much generator.
(I'm sure you will correct me if I'm not thinking correctly :-)

Letitia has a 50 amp 220 service (or 2 30 amp 110s). Except for the dryer,
all the A/C circuits are 110.
The way I see it, a 12kw generator is equvilent to a 100 amp 110 service.
    W/V=A (12,000/120 = 100 amps)
Thus, the generator will never get the kind of load it would like to see.

I would think you would size the generator to match the max shore power you
can take unless you had loads that shore power would NOT feed.
