I have used a Delorme Earthmate hockey-puck USB GPS to drive Nobeltec for
the last two years. This device looks just about like all the other USB Gpi.
One of the things I didn't like about the Earthmate was that in order to use
it with their Streets & Roads application I had to jack into one usb port
and into another when I used Nobeltec.
Delorme has recently introduced a piece of software for their devices that
will emulate multiple serial ports from a single USB connection. It will
send the same GPS results to up to 3 virtual serial ports at tne same time.
Thus, now I don't have to reconnect the device when I want to switch between
using the highway based maps and using Nobeltec.
Even better, It lets me SELECT which port numbers to use - really
simplifying tieing the GPS and Nobeltec together.

I don't know if this will work with any of the other USB devices but many
use the same chipsets.
I would be interested in hearing if it is compatable with any of the other
USB GPSs.
YMMV
