T&T: Update: S/V Flying Colours and her crew of 4 is missing off Cape Lookout, North Carolina

This is a follow-up to the email I forwarded to the list yesterday.

This possible tragedy has been verified with the Coast Guard Fifth 
District Command Center.

For those of you in the area, please keep a lookout for the vessel 
and/or crew, and notify the Coast Guard if you become aware of something 
pertinent.

Please refrain from discussing this specific email on the list - 
speculation adds nothing to the intended purpose of the list. However, 
discussions regarding the dangers of cruising offshore, Atlantic storms, 
storm survival techniques, and search and rescue are certainly appropriate.

Any news concerning the whereabouts and/or condition of the crew and 
vessel is also appropriate as a follow up to this email.

Update... at 1300 on 11.May.07 a weak call was heard from Flying Colours 
crew.
Could we please ask the Listees for vigilance in watching for this S/V ?

    Call heard from missing S/V Flying Colours
    At 1300 on 11.May.07 a boat heard a call from a female voice 
identifying herself as Flying Colours calling Coast Guard.
    
    The location of the boat was between SC coast and the Gulf Stream, 
and their receiving antenna did not have much range, so the Flying 
Colours caller was close to them.  They did not sight any debris or crew.
    
    Anyone in the area between the SC coast and the Gulf Stream is 
requested to keep a careful watch for the missing Flying Colours and her 
crew of 4: Patrick Topping, Jason Franks, Rhiannon Borisoff and 
Christine Grinavic,
    
    Flying Colours is a sailing vessel with a blue hull, with either a 
green or light blue keel, with white topsides, teak decks and lots of 
stainless steel.
    
    Please notify the United States Coast Guard Fifth District Command 
Center at (757) 398-6390 with pertinent information.
