I have been pondering the uses (and occasional abuses) of the
Trawlers-and-Trawlering mailing list since Jeff started the discussion re:
the addition of some alternative form(s).

I say "...addition of some alternative form(s)." because I think some
functions of the list which are fulfilled the existing format could not be
replaced with a wiki.
[] I am usually not looking for the answer to some query
My day starts by reading the digest of yesterday's posts. My objective is
to maintain my connection with an on-going community. I find the list
entertaining (usually) and informative (usually).
[] I don't want to rely on a high-speed connection
During cruising season (YAH! I get back to Letitia in 2 weeks for the
summer) my band width goes down substantially.
I suspect there are other cruisers who have similar needs.
I still get my mail via POP and see no advantage to me with webmail.
Alternative forms...
On the other hand...
I think augmenting and taking advantage of the body of knowledge with in the
group has merit.
An organized Frequently Offered Opinion function would be helpful.
There still would need to be a mechanisium for asking the till-then-UNASKED
question.
Jeff's ActiveCaptain is great and I am looking forward to the 'Mobile-wiki'.
I had fun with the stats.
It might be interesting to see what, if any, inferences can be drawn from
then.
