I applaud Jeff's idea of setting up a Wikipedia type encyclopedia of boating
information but T&T may not be the place for it. This list, in addition to
providing facts and opinions on boating, has morphed into being a forum for
casual boating conversations among virtual friends. Certainly in the snow country
it is one of the few contacts with the boating community and life style for
half a year. In the meantime, until Active Captain's "Wiki" goes online, it might
be appropriate for T&T members to create actual Wikipedia pages for boating
topics. Marine diesel engines, anchoring techniques, marine soundproofing,
recreational boat safety, fuel polishing, dedicated battery systems, etc. are all
possibilities. Then if a boater wanted to look something up, he could just
read the appropriate page.
