T&T: germicidal bulb

I ordered my Aquamarine watermaker 3 1/2 years ago and I'm just now
installing it. Guy said he'd hold the membranes until we were ready. I also
purchased a UV sterilizer at the time for him to ship with the membranes.
When I called him the other day to ship the rest of my order, he said he no
longer had the 120 volt sterilizers could he send me a 12 vdc unit instead.
I say ok as I have enough parts around to cobble together a 12 v rectifier.
When everything arrived, the 12 vdc unit was nothing more than a 120 vac
G6T5 germicidal bulb in a pvc housing and a small inverter/ballast to run
the bulb off 12 v.

I figured KISS would dictate that I eliminate the rectifier and run the bulb
directly off 120 which would necessitate I get a 120 vac ballast, which I
did off eBay for $5. I figured the ballast would come with some kind of
circuit diagram or schematic but it did not. Anyone have any idea how it
wires in? The bulb has two white wires coming out to be hooked to the 12 v
"ballast". The 120 v ballast has only two wires coming out of it. Looks like
I just hook it in series with one of the of the legs of the 120.

I need some expert "HEP".
