T&T: nitrogen

I happened to see one of those Hot Rod shows on one of the upper
channels of the cable service.  I can't remember which one, but the
host was talking about how some car shops will use nitrogen in high
performance tires.  First I had heard about it, so I paid attention.
 
His claim was that the nitrogen would not hold water vapor.

He also mentioned that if you use nitrogen, then you need to make sure
you top off with nitrogen.  As soon as you top off with air, you lose
all of the benefits of the nitrogen.

As to using it in an inflatable, I would think that it would be really
hard to maintain a source of nitrogen for topping off.  I'm sure it
would be doable, but a PITA.
