There was a thread about fiberglass propane cylinders on the list a while
back and I wanted to update it with further hands-on experience. I bought
three of them from these people: http://www.litecylinder.com/ a couple years
ago. I've been using 2 and a friend's been using one I gave him as a
Christmas gift.

He has a pedestal mounted grill on his deck which is a great deal the worse
for wear, the bottom corroded out in places. They were barbequing chicken
and sausage and, involved in other aspects of the meal, they returned to a
raging inferno. Hot grease had been dripping down onto the top of the tank
and, you guessed it, a flaming drip set the tank alight.

When my friend arrived, flames were shooting out everywhere. The hose had
melted through and there were multiple flame-throwers shooting everywhere.
My friend grabbed a fire-extinguisher, the other guy a water hose and they
put out the fire. The plastic handles were burnt beyond recognition but the
tank itself. . .was untouched. Couldn't tell there'd been a fire.

These tanks are tough, light and corrosion-proof.
