T&T: 1) Alternatives to 8D batteries are ? 2) How are the Odyssey Batteries?

Mel,
We just bought a 1987 Heritage 40 - still figuring it out. One thing that I
really liked about the boat when we first saw it was the House battery
setup. The PO had moved the two 8D AGM's out of the engine room to the down
galley. He put them under the forward facing booth seat. Engine starter
4D's are still in the engine room.

You give up some storage space, but the ROV makes it a no-brainer: easy to
access, out of the engine room heat. It does make a longer wiring run to
the GenSet; probably 8ft now. But he did use heavy cable - forget what now.
I would give up the storage under the other seat for 2 more 8D's.

Just a thought, good luck
