T&T: 1) Alternatives to 8D batteries are ? 2) How are the Odyssey Batteries?

Before you replace them, there seems to be a problem with your charging /
maintenance. No batteries should need to be replaced that fast. My first
question would be are you using an old ferroresonant charger? Probably
should replace with a three stage "smart" charger. Here is a very good

That being said, I replaced each of my 8D's with two six volt AGMs wired in
series to give 12V. At that time I also switched to a smart charger. They
are all 4 years old now and going strong.
Rolls also has a modular system that's pretty neat. Uses modular cells that
weigh about 30 pounds each to replace your 8D's. See
