       I have to add cetane simply because it is usually not stated on the side of the pump.  FPPF(I think that is the name of it) makes a product called "plus 10" which is what they claim so I go with it.  It does reduce smoke and it does increase performance(smoother idle).  It is also endorsed and recommended by the engine manufacturer...Yanmar...so that alone gives it some credibility.  I have that screaming 4-banger(240hp out of 213 cubic inches....gasoline engines rarely make that ratio) so my engine might be a little more cetane sensitive.
