On the advise of Jeff, I purchased a Wilson direct amplifier and he was spot
on with the recommendation. I don't have far to go to give it a good test
since my cell coverage is very poor at best at home. I plugged in the amplifier
and a "trucker" antenna and went from none to one bars up to four. The Wilson
line of products is targeted to the truck driving community who has little
patience for poorly made products and this one is very well made and quite
reliable. I purchased it from the following who had the best price I could find
on the web. You have to keep the phone tethered but that doesn't seem to be a
 problem.

Great company to deal with and quick service, no connection, etc. but a very
satisfied customer.
