John, try googling "handicapped sailing", you will get a number of web sites of programs that teach/provide sailing for the disabled. They can tell you what they use. Jeff Sharkey MT 34 "Ripple"

Subject: T&T: Life Jackets for the Handicapped.

My Nephew God love him is handicapped, well the doctors call it
Developmentally challenged. He can't walk, has to be fed through a
tube, and has limited use of his left hand. He absolutely LOVES
being on the boat, and up till now I've been able to feel reasonably
well about using child life jackets. But he's growing like crazy
lately, and I'm afraid this may be the last year I will be able to
find a child jacket for him that gives the appropriate neck support.
I'm about ready to write some of the major lifejacket manufacturers
to see if they have anything or know of anything. But until then I'm
asking you all, do you know of any one or anyplace that sells a Life
Jacket that would be appropriate for him?? Short of finding a life
jacket I may just get a life boat as I have plenty of room. I don't
know, I guess maybe it's that I've been looking for a while and am
getting a bit frustrated as I sure would hate for something bad to
happen and lose that little fella..
