T&T: "Marine" vs. regular fire extinguishers

Does anybody know the difference between a "marine" ABC fire extinguisher
and a "non-marine" ABC fire extinguisher of the exact same size and
propellant? Please tell me it's something more than the color of the case,
if indeed there is a substantial difference.

IMHO, the minimum requirements required by the USCG may pass inspection, but
are hardly adequate. By all means, be sure to have the minimum # and size
required on board, but feel free to carry extras, ones that are bigger, and
even types like foam, which is AB only, but way more effective on wood and
oil fires than any of the dry chemical types, even though it's not USCG
approved. I'm assuming they won't ding you for having extras on board that
aren't USCG type, as long as you have the required USCG ones there. I've
passed the CG AUX exam every time with that situation.
