The same thing is true in aviation. As has been said many times,
airplanes and boats are not inherently dangerous but they are completely
unforgiving. In some situations the choice can come down to doing
something immediately which gives you the chance that you'll do the
right thing, or hesitating and guaranteeing that the outcome will be
disastrous if not fatal.
