T&T: DeFever gages Hour meter

The hour meter for my stb. engine has stopped working on my 44 DeFever.  
Does anyone have a clue the what mfg. they are, can't see any indication 
of VDO anywhere on the gage and any help on removal would be 
appreciated.  The panel lifts up, I can see the underside, but for the 
life of me I can't figure out how to get the tach/hour meter out without 
taking out all the surrounding gages, and even then I'm unsure how to 
remove it.  There are some long bolts hanging down from the underside of 
the gage face with little tiny nuts on them (that you can't get to), 
can't see what purpose they serve as they don't appear to be in contact 
with the surface of the instrument panel.
