T&T: Wireless bridge

Configure the LAN section of the router with a different network
address than the WAN side. For example, if your LAN side is typically
192.168.1.1, set it for 192.168.2.1. Most routers out of the box are set
for the same network range, 192.168.1.x. That puts your PC network side
into a different network than the WAN side, allowing the router to route
(what they are designed to do} between the two networks. Set the WAN to
receive its IP Address via DHCP. It will pick up its address from the
marina's router. Also, before you do any changes on your router, set
your PC static IP to as 192.168.2.2.

Subject: T&T: Wireless bridge

OK, I'm pretty computer savvy, but networking has always seemed to be my
Achilles heel.

I am in the process of setting up my on board wifi. I have a wireless
router to network my laptop and onboard computer (LAN), and I have a
high output wireless AP/bridge that I plan to connect to the router's
internet port (WLAN). I'm having trouble getting my brain around how
to configure it.

I can connect the bridge to my laptop with a static IP, go into the
bridge via browser & connect to the wireless AP at the marina. That's as
far as I can get at this point. I generally am too hard headed to ask
for help, but I'm getting a bit frustrated, & I believe I'm missing some
basic configuration concepts. The bridge is set up with a static IP, but
I can't figure how the connection & IP # works between that & the
router.

Anyone?

Steve
