T&T: Bit key for lower helm door?

Morning All,
 
We have a 1985 40' Oceania Trawler and I have broken the only bit key  I have 
for the lower helm door.  I have tried a number of locksmiths and  they all 
tell me that I have to bring in the actual lock to see "IF" they can  make 
another key......a task I would rather not do.  It's 2.5 inches long  and has the 
number "67" stamped on the key.  Any thoughts on where I could  get another 
key like this?  Thanks in advance!
