I understand re 'wife likes it because of clear cover'
So, I have a Farberware cover for my favorite skillet. It also covers a
standard pan. Metal edges (the knob does get hot) and so far (10 years,
perhaps more?) I have not yet broken it.
So, Revereware for the pots and pans -- yes, the standard copper bottom
pots your grandmother used. Some of mine belonged to Grandma (born 1895)
so they have seen a bit of use over the decades... there's something
about ease of use. I want something I can cut in the bottom without
worrying about a fancy finish, and I have this pathological "thing"
about flecks of coatings in my food.
And, best part of all, if, (okay, "when") I do something stupid and get
a mess in the pan, I can tie a knot through the handle and toss it over
the side for the night. If the fish don't clean it thoroughly, it
doesn't take much in the morning to get it clean. Say "chum" and try
fishing too.
That said, I am woman. I have my quirks/favorite pans and such. If your
wife likes ABC pan set, you'd be smart to go with that. I understand how
Revere works (for me/my style of cooking) and would probably be lost
with the new fangled stuff. Since I'm satisfied and I do the cooking...
J, well-fed (and so too is Frank!)
