T&T: Parquet floor refinishing

I want to refinish my floors as they have lost their shine and have
years of marks. I tried sanding a small inconspicious area and it was
very slow. I did not try paint remover yet. Does anyone have any
recommendations for how to remove the old finish and then what to put
on for the new finish? Your help is appreciated.
