According to the stuff I have read, the Singapore plant was opened in 1969,
and
Grand Banks was producing wooden boats at both yards. I think the 32's,
36's, and 42's
were being produced at Singapore, and the larger vessels at Kowloon. My
boat has a
Singapore nameplate. The reason for opening the Singapore plant was the
Kowloon plant was
simply unable to meet the production demands. In 1973 the switch was made
to fiberglass
at the Singapore plant, and eventually the Kowloon plant was shut down.
