T&T: A/C pump - intake - problems/Remedy?

Hi Bob,

I have a manifold off a 1.5" through hull and strainer that feeds two AC
pumps and the refer. An additional port has a valve with pressure fresh
water along with a high pressure check valve. I have used this to great
advantage to clear the strainer and inlet along with priming the AC pumps
when needed. At the time it was easier to plumb the fresh water than bring a
wash down connection back and I have plenty of fresh water storage aboard.
Someone on another list uses compressed air with excellent results.

Yours is an excellent project!

Jeff

Install a back flush fitting to the AC raw water inlet so that a raw water
washdown hose can be fitted when needed.

I am an above water kind of guy and love marine life when it surfaces or see

it on the TV. Diving under the boat is not an option most anytime, unless
it is a real emergency.
So...
Since the Ac intake is vulnerable to clogging, mostly when not under way,
wouldn't it be a good idea to install a tee with a hose fitting or such
above the seacock for the AC intake....and maybe an additional valve above
it to force a washdown pump and hose flush down and out the intake strainer?
Unless someone thinks this is a bad idea, I am going to install my intake
that way since I am adding marine AC.
