Had the same problem once with a big fat 10 inch diameter jelly fish.
Sucked hard against the intake. It was 95 degrees at 10pm, so I was
directed to go overboard with a mask and a flashlight in a zip lock bag.
Pays to know the general location of your intakes!

running your air cons on fresh water will get you booted out of many
marinas, especially in south florida where there are currently many
restrictions on water usage... not a good idea !

I also have 4 16k units running of a single pump... fewer holes in a
boat is always good. On the downside when you get a plastic bad stuck
in the thru hull scoop, you have to go under to clear it.

that's farily commong occurence around here...at least twice a year...
usually on a sunday morning at 6am !

it's also tricky... if you open the seacock and strainer, you will get
some flow out. but when you start the pump, the suction sucks the bag
tight
against and stops flow. back flushing doens' help, as the bag is
usuallyt
hooked on barnacles on the scoop...

I almost changed a pump a few years ago but went under to take a look as
a last resort...
