T&T: A/C Pump Problems

Remove the pump output hose for a moment to see if it has a forcefull
output. Can you attach a fresh water hose to the pump or strainer intake
hose? By controlling the hose flow you can see if the pump is pumping -
removing the pump out put hose if necessary.

If the pump does not pop the breaker under those circumstances, then you
know it's a water intake problem. By removing the fittings (elbow if there
is one) you should be able to run a dowel through the open seacock and into
the intake scoop. You can then mush any growth and barnacles in the scoop to
free up the flow. If you lack a scoop (unlikely) just driving the dowel up
and down should clear the through-hull.

If it turns out to be the pump, you can run the A/C on a fresh water hose
untill you can secure a replacement pump. You are the first person on the
list to say that they are feeding 4 A/C units from 1 pump. The previous
record was 2 A/C units. If you can't obtain a pump locally, your next best
bets are DEPCO Pump in Florida or Defender online. The difference would be
the type of shipping used.
