A few random thoughts.

Is the neutral in the shore line, "loose"?

Is the stove really 240v? In other words do the heating elements 
actually run off 240v or is it just a matter of the heating loads being 
equally spaced but running on 120v and using the neutral?


Are you actually measuring 240 volts between the red and black, not just 
adding up the 120 and 120 from red/white and black/white?

I don't know if any of this helps, but it seems like this problem is 240 
volt related, and the US 240 volt system is a minefield of potential 
problems and misunderstandings.
