Arild's answer reflects the answers to my ge lightbulb/dimmer question both
on and off line. Meanwhile, here's a reply to my inquiry from G.E.:
Hello Larry,
Thank you for contacting GE Lighting. I am happy to assist you.
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) should not be used on dimmers unless the
specific bulb is noted on the package as a "dimming CFL". The CFL that
you have is NOT a dimmable lamp.
While we will be offering dimmable CFL Spirals nationally sometime in the
first or second Quarter of 2007, they are not yet available. They will
not be offered in the 75W equivalent. Their Product Codes (PC) and
corresponding Product Descriptions (DESC) will be:
15W = PC 89623 (FLE15HT3/2/DV/CD) - which gives equivalent light output
of a 60W incandescent. This bulb is approximately 5.2" in length.
26W = PC 89624 (FLE26HT3/2/DV/CD) - which gives equivalent light output
of a 100W incandescent. This bulb is approximately 5.8" in length.
We can only suggest that you continue to check with your local Walmart or
Target, as these stores and others like them will most likely be on the
ball about getting them in once they are available.
