T&T: Adding batteries

If your batteries are under a year old and your discharge cycles have
been minimized, i.e., not totally discharging and recharging the current
bank, than you will have no problems with adding 2 more 6v batteries.
Its only when you get into battery banks that are long in the tooth that
you should be hesitant to add new ones.

Subject: T&T: Adding batteries

Last spring, before leaving Fla for the Chesapeake, I replaced my house
bank of four 6V gel cells. Since we have a propane refer, the bank is
adequate.
Lately I've been suffering from amp-hour envy and am thinking about
adding two more 6V gel's. I know that in a perfect world, all the
batteries would be the same age but that ain't gonna happen now and
since my old house bank was 9 years old when they were replaced, I'm
thinking that its gonna be a long wait.
If I add two more batteries now am I going to mess things up. Remember,
my current system is adequate. What say the group?
