Some of the more sophisticated inverter/chargers will parallel in with a
genset for peak shaving. Running a generator too lightly loaded will
result in premature failure. The rule of thumb is no less than 50% load
and 80% is best. By having an inverter that will parallel you can more
properly size the genset and still enjoy noise free inverter only
operation.
