T&T: fluid for simrad auto pilot

I am still having trouble bleeding the air from my newly installed simrad  
Aup 16 auto pilot installed in my 1983 vintage capilano hydraulic steering  
system.  I called Simrad tech support and they said I should use special  
hydraulic fluid and not the transmission fluid that is currently in there.   I read 
the Capilano manual and it specifically says use transmission  fluid.  I called 
back tech support and told them, and they said well, maybe  I could use 
transmission fluid.  Has anyone used transmission fluid in  their simrad auto pilot?
