FYI, this function is a part of the XGATE email software that we use. It is
slick and works great. It does limit you to 3 GPS ports and one network port
tho. I looked at the gpsgate product and it seems that it might allow more
ports and functionality.

So the software concept does work and it sure beats adding more wires etc
via  NMEA multiplexer if just repeating GPS signals is what you want.

Now if we can get them to repeat any other NMEA sentences then we can do so
for AIS signals and other stuff like depth, wind, etc. Right now they only
look for "GPS" prefixes :-(
