T&T: Racors and water in the fuel: RACOR rely!

We ran a test some years ago with a Racor 500 using a 2 micron element. Put
the intake hose in a bucket of water turn on the pump and soon water comes
out the outlet of the Racor. So I guess that they will pass water directly
Aquabloc element or not. They are designed to deal with a cupful or less of
water not copious amounts

I did this after someone had filled the diesel tank on a boat with water and
fried the injector pump and injectors. I too thought that the Racor would
"stop passing" if it got to much water. Oh well.

We use a Gulfcoast F-1 on Swan Song with a larger capacity to hold water BUT
no filter can cope from folks using the wrong deck fill ;-)

As always YMMV.

Cheers
