T&T: Engine block heater

If you want an engine coolant heater, any probe type insert, similar to a
water heater element is suitable. My much bigger 8V71TI's use 1200 watt units;
about 45 minutes of warming makes for a easy start in 45 to 50 degree ambient
temps. I'd say 600 to 800 watts should be good for your smaller size engine.
Bigger is faster. Take into account your genny output and load if that's a
factor.

An alternative is an oil pan heater, some of which stick to the underside of
the oil pan, like Wolverine which have been recommended here before. Others
use a stick insert into the dipstick.

Not want you want likely, but a diesel coolant heater like a WEBASTO heater
can heat engine coolant, support a whole boat heating system, and make
domestic hot water...but pricy (and installation work) unless you want at
least two of the three and require fast engine heating.
